The triumphal entry as it is also called. The day Jesus entered Jerusalem and the people called Him King and He didn’t stop them, because He is THE King.
This was the day all Jews had prayed for since Eve had anticipated a child that would come to save them. She thought it would be soon, “I have gotten a man from the LORD”
(Gen4:1) she said when she delivered her first born, but it would be a much longer wait than that.
Many years and many details about the Messiah and His birth were given to us. The very day of His entry was foretold to them if they had kept track and trusted God at His word.
Daniel 9:24-27 tells us of His entry. “Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks:” This gives us the markers to start our prophetic countdown clocks on.
The is a rich study involved in these indicators and the dates and times of their fulfillment, (We will cover these in our Wednesday night Bible study soon.) but Jesus held them accountable to this very day. He called it “This they day” (Luke 19:42) the day every Jew had prayed for. The day Messiah as King is on the Earth and riding into Jerusalem.
This day we call Palm Sunday or the Triumphal entry.
Sadly their cries of “Hosanna” are short lived and within a week are changed in to ” Crucify Him!” Jesus knew it too He said “If thou hadst known” that this was that day but they did not.
